Snapchat Taking Advertising One Step Further

Image
Snapchat has done a really good job in becoming a useful advertising platform, mostly reaching out to younger markets. You've probably seen those facial-morphing filters on peoples pictures, which have been the most creative ad product out in the social media world. Advertisers have been taking advantage of these, although they have been complaining about not getting returns on their investment. Snapchat is now trying out new "Context Cards" for its sponsored lenses/ filters. This allows advertisers to use these filters free of charge, providing users with more information on the given advertisement. All the user has to do is swipe up on any of their friend's Snapchat that is using the filter, and it opens up a link within the app. This gives advertisers an easier way to see their ROI instead of just numbers on engagement. This is the right time for Snapchat to release something like this, by learning more from partners and finding way to help the community of use...

We already know that brands are starting to integrate digitally to reach customers. This is done by integrating online shopper marketing such as offering recommended products, coupons, and even loyalty programs. Some brands can be successful and retain those customers, but they have to have the right strategy. If you've shopped at Urban Outfitters in the past year, you've probably been asked if you've downloaded their app while at the checkout counter. They increase their numbers in app downloads by offering 10% off of your first purchase with the download of the app. By creating an account within the app, customers are able to easily shop through the app while earning rewards. UO Rewards are earned by scanning the app at each purchase in store, purchasing through the app, and even scrolling through the app and sharing products. Once the user has reached 100 points, they receive a coupon towards their next purchase. This is a really good way of attracting and retaining ...

If you live in Athens and love deals on food, follow @athens_cfa on Instagram! The Beechwood and Barnett Shoals Chick-fil-a post about deals weekly. The marketing team who runs this page does a really good job of incorporating UGA students as well as the Athens community as a whole. For example, they reach the market of UGA students by posting about College Night, late-night dinners downtown, etc. Not only do they post deals that bring in customers, they also run campaigns raising money for different philanthropies, get involved with community outreach, and also increasing their reach by using hashtags. They also do a really good job in getting their followers involved in different contests. This Instagram account hits all aspects including reach, brand awareness, customer involvement, and other necessary marketing goals which allows them to be successful. This is shown with their 4,810 followers, which continues to grow.

Audi Technology. Clown Proof.

Image
Of all of the advertisements you see for automobiles, most of them consist of unrealistic problems like rocks falling off a cliff, or off roading through a river. I have seen a lot of these with Jeep and Subaru advertisements, as well as trucks. Depending on the make of the car and the market they attract, these companies have different ways of  advertising to that market. For Honda, Toyota, Audi, and other automotive companies who market to individuals that drive in suburban or city areas, there are certain attributes they can directly market to. The #1 attribute that most people in this market are concerned with is safety. In a recent advertisement by Audi, they completely nailed this concern of safety in a fresh, new way. The idea behind this ad is that the biggest concern on the road is other drivers (or in this case "clowns"), not falling rocks or random rivers. The ad features various aspects of how new Audi technology avoids these "clown" drivers, ...
I'm sure everyone woke up to the horrific news about the recent mass shooting in Las Vegas last night. Even if you didn't have time to watch the news this morning, you probably heard it from someone else, or even read about it on social media. I heard about it from a friend, and as soon as I logged onto Twitter it was all I saw. The discover tab has the whole story laid out from live tweets and user feedback. Below that lists "Trends for you"- all relating to Las Vegas, #stopthehate, Pulse, Thoughts and Prayers, #guncontrol, etc. This platform has allowed everyone to come together to voice their opinions. Twitter has created a platform that brings everyone together and gets people talking. However, this type of event brings in a lot of different political opinions which divides us as a country. What we need to stay focused on is putting our political opinions aside and sticking together as a nation to comfort and pray for those affected by this terrible event. I...

The wait is finally over.. Chipotle has released their queso! It took so long for Chipotle to come out with this because most restaurants queso have flavor enhancing additives and preservatives, and that goes against Chipotle's core values. Chipotle is known for having fresh ingredients, so it took a while for them to perfect the recipe. If you haven't tried it yet, you might want to ask someone before wasting your money. Everyone I've asked or heard from hasn't had anything good to say. This morning I saw an Instagram sponsored post for a Chipotle "Queso Cup Social Media" Contest. It's a week long contest Monday through Friday completely through Instagram and the winner gets a year of free queso. This is a good way for Chipotle to market the new product and get customers involved, but it's not getting very good feedback. "Please improve your recipe!" "It tastes like the instant mac n cheese powder that was mixed with wat...

Digital Video Marketing

Like we learned in class, companies in the consumer packaged goods industry don't spend a whole lot of advertising money because they rely on retailers to do that work. Retailers and CPG companies have started to take advantage of a cheap alternative of advertising by using Facebook videos to market directly to consumers. I'm sure you've seen all the Tasty videos on Facebook showing a birds eye view of how to make a recipe. These videos are visually appealing, is usually less than a minute long, and grab people's attention so they'll tag their friends and make the recipe themselves. The old way that brands would market their products was somewhat of the same idea. On their packages they would include recipes you could use that specific product to make, but now brands have hopped on this trend to market their own products through videos. Brands like Pillsbury create their own short video on how to make something, while marketing their biscuits, and other produc...
