Instagram Influencers

Instagram has changed the way stores bring in traffic today. Both online stores and local retail stores are taking advantage of a new tactic using "influencers".

Girls, say you're scrolling on your Instagram feed or popular page and see a cute outfit.. the first thing that comes to my mind is "where did they get that?!"

This is where the influencers come into play. They are given a discount for clothes with the agreement that they'll tag the store they got their outfit from. This increases interest and directs traffic directly to the stores Instagram page.

So many stores in Athens are using this and I am definitely on board with it. For these stores in Athens, its a cheap way to expose customers to new clothes, jewelry, and shoes, as well as reaching their target market of college students.

Snapchat Taking Advertising One Step Further

Snapchat has done a really good job in becoming a useful advertising platform, mostly reaching out to younger markets. You've probably seen those facial-morphing filters on peoples pictures, which have been the most creative ad product out in the social media world. Advertisers have been taking advantage of these, although they have been complaining about not getting returns on their investment. Snapchat is now trying out new "Context Cards" for its sponsored lenses/ filters. This allows advertisers to use these filters free of charge, providing users with more information on the given advertisement. All the user has to do is swipe up on any of their friend's Snapchat that is using the filter, and it opens up a link within the app. This gives advertisers an easier way to see their ROI instead of just numbers on engagement.
